“The History of Plymouth’ s Jenney Grist Mill - A Live Presentation”
From the moment you arrive at the Grist Mill you’ll fall in love with the natural beauty of the environment. Jenney Pond, Town Brook, the water wheel, the beautiful gardens, all work together to make a magical feeling. Our miller will delight you with stories from the past and present. As you step inside the old mill you’ll be fascinated by the huge grinding stones and the look and feel of the past. Hear the history of the original mill built in 1636 by Pilgrim John Jenney and how important it was to the survival of the colony. Learn the facts and the myths of the Pilgrim story and how corn is ground by the turn of a stone and the power of the water. Rotating exhibits are on display during the season including the Migration of the River Herring and the Story of the Cranberry and Corn Harvests. From mid April to mid May see thousands of Herring swim up Town Brook past the Mill on the way to spawn.
